Since 1954, the men and women of our agency have continuously provided the highest possible levels of fire and emergency services protection. We strive to meet the emergency services demands of our ever-changing community.
Meherrin Volunteer Fire & Rescue is a 24/7 full service public safety agency. Our department provides fire suppression, rescue/extrication services, public education, fire prevention, and both Basic & Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Service in both Lunenburg and Prince Edward Counties. We utilize a combination of volunteers and paid staff to provide 24 hr. coverage to our citizens & visitors.
Hopefully, you or your family will never require our services, but if you should, rest assured that our dedicated and trained volunteer & paid staff members will do everything in their power to assist you in your time of need.

This system enables us to provide you with critical information quickly in a variety of situations, such as severe weather,
unexpected road closures, missing persons and evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods.
All department members are required to take Incident Management training through the Federal Emergency Management Agency
to be in compliance with Presidential Homeland Security Directive 5 that was put in effect after the September 11th, 2001 attacks in New York City.

ICS - 200 - ICS for Single Resources & Initial Action Incidents
ICS - 700 - National Incident Management Systems An Introduction
ICS - 800 - National Response Framework, An Introduction
